I just figured out why it's taking me so freakishly long to do this comic, lol (My Sweet Indulgence)

I HATE DOING ART WHEN THE ONLY PURPOSE IS TO GET MONEY FOR IT!

I love the story of MSI, but it was taking me so long to do it because I was originally doing it for the guy at the gallery.
So, while the story is from my heart, the reason to why I was doing it (or rather, the time limit I was giving myself) wasn't. I really don't like the idea of doing art for money, sorry. I can only do it if I think of it as a gift. (All my oil painting commissions came from me doing the picture of my mom's mother for Mother's Day, last year). But boy, I've learned my lesson. I really can't do it from my heart unless I feel it is something I am giving away, to make somebody else happy. I simply just can't do it, while looking at the potential monetary benefit from it.

Well, I could say more, but I won't. I just hope no one else has to go through this hell-year like I had to with my art (but maybe they might have to). (I know I had to go through it in order to learn this.)
Everything truly does happen for a reason XD

Is it just me, or does it seem like the world is moving toward a direction where it's the consumer who uses the product first, and then if they like it, they will pay for it? (Rather than the other way around, like it's been up till now?)

Is it just me, or are companies getting so desperate for money, that they have to hurriedly come out with the 'next new thing', without putting as much thought or heart into it like they used to? *coughnickelodeoncough*

Well, there are other examples too, but... just saying. Maybe the future of selling artsy things will depend on how much the person LIKES the movie or LIKES the song, etc...?
I mean, don't you ever feel 'cheated' out of your money when you spend (/waste) it on a bad movie? Like,' I want my 7 dollars/2 hours of my life back!'

Maybe it's just now that we're starting to get sick of it? lol

(copied from a reply): I got some good answers when I asked other people about this. From what I understand, it's basically that because what you borrow from the library or a friend is under the friend or library's control of when to return it, and not your own of when to 'delete' it. Even if you may end up buying product later, if it's under your control, then there is no definite time when you have to delete it, therefore making it different with a library or a friend.

I'm taking a short break till I finish my comic, 'My Sweet Indulgence.' (Almost done! argg! lol)

I haven't even been following my own motto of "stop comparing yourself" to other artists when you want to truly express yourself. lol, duh.

By the way, my journals are not intended to make you feel that you HAVE to comment on it. I just like announcing my thoughts, but you don't have to read or write back to them. It's just something internal I feel I have to do. And also, if by reading them, hopefully you can discover some things own your own about yourselves. But it's mostly just, I feel I have to "write" some things down or I'll go crazy! lol
(kinda like I have to write or draw or the same thoughts will keep circling and circling inside of my mind with no release @__@ ahhh! lmao)
